Swiss Childhood Cancer Registry

Aspects of data protection

Register approval for the Swiss Childhood Cancer Registry The Swiss Childhood Cancer Registry currently has the general register approval from the Swiss Expert Commission for professional secrets in medical research. This approval allows us to collect data from children and adolescents with cancer in Switzerland without the usual requirement of written permission. The patients or their parents have the right to veto the transfer of their data through the doctor in charge of their case.

Patients’ data are strictly stored following the regulations outlined by the data protection law. The work accomplished by the Childhood Cancer Registry represents an important contribution in optimising treatment for children and adolescents suffering from cancer. Therefore we are grateful if the Swiss Childhood Cancer Registry is allowed to collect and analyse the data from as many children as possible.
